At the ceremony, General Phan Van Giang congratulated Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nam on being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General, the first of the Ho Chi Minh City Command.
General Phan Van Giang requested Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nam to continue to cultivate a strong political stance, be absolutely loyal to the Party, the State and the people; always be proactive, sensitive, and grasp the situation in all aspects to promptly advise the leaders of the City Party Committee and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to perform well the local military and defense tasks, especially, to perform well the current task of preventing and fighting the COVID-19 epidemic in the area.
At the same time, successfully fulfill the functions of the combat army, the working army, and the labor and production army, promote the revolutionary nature and tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", be ready to receive and excellently complete all assigned tasks.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nam expressed his honor and pride at being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General.
