RT TV channel quoted French media sources as saying that the 19-year-old man scanned Mr. Macron's "vaccine passport" QR code at the hospital gate in Marseille last week, but could not get past the security staff.

They let the young man in, then called the police and arrested him. Eventually, the bold guy was released and had to pay a fine for using someone else's medical records.

He admitted that he did not have a “green card” so he decided to steal the French President’s data. He explained that his motive was just “for fun”.

President Macron's medical data was leaked online last month, allegedly by a health worker with access to the government's vaccination database. The incident also affected Prime Minister Jean Castex's information.

Authorities are investigating the leak. The QR health codes of Mr Macron and Mr Castex have been disabled.

Introduced this summer, France's "green pass" system requires citizens to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test result for the SARS-CoV-2 virus to enter bars, restaurants, shopping malls or use public transport.

The system has been opposed by the French people with prolonged protests on the streets of Paris and other major cities.
