Death penalty for man from Da Nang to Nghe An... to collect debt
(Baonghean.vn) - Mang lent money to a person and went from Da Nang to Nghe An to collect the debt. The creditor asked Mang to transport drugs to Da Nang to sell to pay off the debt. Mang agreed and had to pay the death penalty in exchange.
On November 22, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendant Bui Van Mang (born 1974), residing in Hai Chau district, Da Nang city, for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".

After being released from prison for a while, Mang met a man named Duong (unknown background and specific address). In December 2020, Mang lent Duong 200 million VND. After that, Mang contacted Duong many times to ask for the debt but was unsuccessful.

On January 7, 2021, Duong called Mang and said he was going to Que Phong district (Nghe An) to collect the debt. The next evening, at a restaurant, Duong told Mang that he had no money but had 3 packages of drugs that he wanted Mang to transport to Da Nang city so that Duong could sell them to pay off the debt. Mang agreed.
At around 7:00 a.m. on January 9, following Duong's instructions, Mang went to the Truong Banh intersection in Tien Phong commune and was contacted by someone who showed him where the drugs were hidden.
After getting the drugs, Mang got in a car to return to Da Nang. When the car reached Tien Phong commune, Que Phong district, the police discovered and caught him red-handed, confiscating nearly 3kg of various drugs.
At the trial, the defendant initially admitted to transporting drugs. However, Mang later admitted to buying and selling drugs as charged in the indictment.
With an exceptionally large amount of drugs, the People's Court sentenced defendant Bui Van Mang to death for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
As for the man named Duong, Mang did not know his background or specific address, so there was no basis for investigation and prosecution.
