Death sentence for man who traveled from Da Nang to Nghe An to collect a debt.
(Baonghean.vn) - Mang lent money to someone who traveled from Da Nang to Nghe An to collect the debt. When the creditor asked him to transport drugs to Da Nang to sell in order to repay the debt, Mang agreed and received a death sentence in return.
On November 22nd, the People's Court of Nghe An province held a first-instance criminal trial to hear the case against Bui Van Mang (born in 1974), residing in Hai Chau district, Da Nang city, for the crime of "illegally trading narcotics".

After being released from prison, Mang befriended a man named Duong (whose background and specific address are unknown). In December 2020, Mang lent Duong 200 million VND. Subsequently, Mang contacted Duong several times to inquire about the repayment but was unsuccessful.

On January 7, 2021, Duong called Mang and told him to come to Que Phong district (Nghe An province) to collect a debt. The following evening, at a restaurant, Duong told Mang that he didn't have money at the moment but had three packages of drugs that he wanted Mang to transport to Da Nang city so he could sell them to pay off his debt. Mang agreed.
At around 7:00 AM on January 9th, following Duong's instructions, Mang went to the Truong Banh intersection in Tien Phong commune, where someone contacted him and showed him where the drugs were hidden.
After obtaining the drugs, Mang got into a car to return to Da Nang. When the car reached Tien Phong commune, Que Phong district, the police discovered and apprehended him red-handed, seizing nearly 3kg of various types of drugs.
At the trial, the defendant initially only admitted to transporting drugs. However, Mang later admitted to buying and selling drugs as charged in the indictment.
Given the exceptionally large quantity of drugs involved, the court sentenced defendant Bui Van Mang to death for the crime of "Illegal trafficking of narcotics".
Regarding the man named Duong, since Mang did not know his background or specific address, there was no basis for investigation or prosecution.
