Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh offers incense to commemorate General Vo Nguyen Giap

On December 21, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Central working delegation attended the ceremony, offered incense and flowers to commemorate General Vo Nguyen Giap at the General's resting place in the Yen Island - Vung Chua area, Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province.

Also attending the ceremony were comrade Truong Thi Mai - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's Organization Commission; comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's Propaganda Department; comrades of the Party Central Committee, Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, leaders of departments, ministries, branches, central agencies and Quang Binh province.

In a solemn atmosphere, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other leaders laid wreaths, offered incense and observed a moment of silence to express their respect to the souls of the martyrs.General Vo Nguyen Giap, together we pay tribute and commemorate the General's great contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of our Party and nation.

General Vo Nguyen Giap (1911-2013), former member of the Politburo, former Secretary of the Central Military Commission, former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, former Minister of National Defense, Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam People's Army, National Assembly Delegate from the 1st to the 7th terms; was a highly prestigious leader of the Party, State and people; an excellent and close student of President Ho Chi Minh; a loyal revolutionary soldier; the first General of the Vietnam People's Army; a famous military man and general in world history.

General Vo Nguyen Giap was born on August 25, 1911 in Loc Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province in a family with a tradition of teaching and patriotism, in a countryside rich in historical, cultural and revolutionary traditions.

Through more than 80 years of continuous, rich and vibrant revolutionary activities, General Vo Nguyen Giap's life is closely associated with the revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation and our Army.

General Vo Nguyen Giap is loved, respected and revered by officers and soldiers of the Army as the "Elder Brother" of the Vietnam People's Army, and received admiration and respect from many heads of state, politicians, scholars, historians, journalists, writers and people around the world.

As an excellent and close student of President Ho Chi Minh, having lived and worked for a long time beside President Ho Chi Minh, being trained by him, the General has strived to learn the will, ideology, morality, style, lifestyle, always cultivating, practicing, speaking and acting according to the example of the great Uncle Ho. The General always shines with the noble qualities and personality of Uncle Ho's soldiers.

Studying and following the example of General Vo Nguyen Giap and other exemplary predecessors, we vow to forever follow the path chosen by the Party, Uncle Ho and our People; successfully continuing the glorious revolutionary cause - the priceless legacy of our predecessors and generations of fathers and brothers; striving to build an increasingly prosperous, civilized and developed country and firmly protect our beloved Fatherland; helping Vietnam's foundation, potential, position and prestige to be constantly enhanced, steadily moving towards socialism.

The 110th anniversary of General Vo Nguyen Giap's birth will be held on December 22 in Quang Binh on a national scale, in conjunction with the 77th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2021) and the 32nd anniversary of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2021).
