Vinh City renovates traffic light system, removes 'red light allowed to go straight' sign

In 2021, to reduce traffic congestion, Vinh City posted signs"Red light is allowed to go straight"at traffic lights at these points. This has caused many opinions from the public. In which, the majority of people agree because after posting the signs, traffic at these points has been smoothed, and congestion has significantly reduced.

However, many opinions say that the fact that vehicles are still allowed to go straight, while pedestrians are also allowed to cross the street at the same time when the light is red, makes pedestrians worried and insecure, especially during rush hours. In addition, although signs have been installed, many traffic participants still stop at red lights out of habit, not paying attention to this sign, especially those from the districts to Vinh City. Therefore, the following vehicles honk loudly to urge the people in front to continue moving, causing chaos and local congestion...

After many comments and contributions, up to now,Vinh Cityhas directed Vinh Urban Infrastructure Management and Development Joint Stock Company to remove the "red light allowed to go straight" sign and renovate the traffic light system at these two points. Specifically, the unit has replaced the sign with a green arrow signal, which will be turned on in parallel when there is a red light, so that people know that they are still allowed to go straight when there is a red light.

According to records, since switching from signs to traffic lights, traffic at these points has been maintained stably, both resolving congestion and ensuring safety for pedestrians passing through.
