Planes and trains increase flights to serve passengers during April 30 holiday

Domestic airlines and railways have begun planning to increase flights to serve people traveling during the April 30 holiday. Many flights to tourist destinations on this day are nearly full, and ticket prices have doubled compared to normal days.

Airlines increase flights and destinations, ticket prices increase

On the occasion of April 30 this year, civil servants and public employees will have 4 days off, from April 30 to May 3. Due to the temporary lull in the Covid-19 epidemic, domestic airlines have recorded an increase in the number of passengers buying tickets to tourist destinations compared to normal days.

To serve the increased travel demand of passengers during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day and April 30-May 1 holidays, Vietnam Airlines Group (including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and VASCO) will provide a total of nearly 750,000 seats, equivalent to nearly 4,000 flights on domestic and international routes during these two occasions.

Specifically, on the occasion of Hung Kings' Commemoration Day from April 8-12, Vietnam Airlines and VASCO provided nearly 1,400 flights with over 266,000 seats, an increase of 10% compared to the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day in 2019 - the time before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out. Pacific Airlines operated nearly 200 flights with nearly 37,000 seats, contributing to meeting the travel needs of passengers.

HolidayFrom April 30 to May 1, Vietnam Airlines Group provided nearly 450,000 seats in 7 days from April 28 to May 4. Of which, Vietnam Airlines and VASCO operated over 2,000 flights with nearly 395,000 seats, an increase of 10% compared to the same period in 2019. Meanwhile, Pacific Airlines provided over 270 flights, equivalent to nearly 51,000 seats.

“Vietnam Airlines Group focuses on increasing capacity on domestic routes that are attracting tourists, connecting the two major cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with famous tourist destinations such as Da Nang, Quy Nhon, Da Lat, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Con Dao... Diverse flight schedules with many flights at different time frames help passengers have convenient and flexible travel options,” said a representative of Vietnam Airlines.

For international flights, after the Government fully opened tourism from March 15 and to anticipate market demand during the two holidays, Vietnam Airlines increased the frequency of operations to the entire regular international flight network, expanding the flight network with new routes such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City - Delhi (India), routes connecting Singapore with Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc from April 15, 2022.

Similarly, during the April 30 holiday, Bamboo Airways plans to increase the maximum flight frequency on key routes such as Hanoi - Da Nang, Hanoi - Quy Nhon, Hanoi - Cam Ranh and Hanoi - Phu Quoc.

The airline is also actively developing its flight network to many countries. In addition to operating flights connecting to Japan, Taiwan (China), South Korea, Australia, Germany, and the UK, the airline has opened sales and plans to launch flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Singapore from April 29, Hanoi to Singapore from May 4, and Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok from April 28.

According to a survey on ticket sales websites, flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to famous tourist destinations cost 5-7 million VND/round trip depending on flight time and ticket type, twice as much as normal days.

A round-trip ticket from Hanoi to Phu Quoc on April 30 and back on May 3 on Vietnam Airlines is more than 8 million VND; a round-trip ticket to Da Nang on the same day is nearly 5 million VND.

The ticket price for the Hanoi - Nha Trang route on April 29 - May 3 of Vietjet Air is 5-6 million VND round trip; the Ho Chi Minh City - Nha Trang route on the same day is nearly 3 million VND round trip.

Many Bamboo Airways flights from Hanoi to Con Dao on April 29-30 are fully booked or only have business class seats left, with an economy ticket price of VND8.4 million round trip.

Many passenger trains resume operation on April 30

The railway industry said it will re-operate the Hanoi - Lao Cai passenger train on the occasion of April 30 and May 1 to serve tourists traveling to Sapa.

Specifically, from Hanoi station, train SP3 runs on April 29 and 30 at 10:00 p.m. and arrives at Lao Cai station at 6:05 a.m. From Lao Cai station, train SP4 runs on May 2 and 3 at 9:40 p.m. and arrives at Hanoi station at 5:30 a.m. Visitors can travel between Lao Cai station and Sapa city by bus or taxi.

Previously, Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company said that the SP3/SP4 train pair was organized to run between Hanoi - Lao Cai during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day holiday after many months of suspension since 2021 due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic. Train SP3 ran at Hanoi station on April 8; Train SP4 ran at Lao Cai station on April 10.

Also on the occasion of the April 30 and May 1 holidays this year, the railway will run more passenger trains from Hanoi to the provinces to serve the travel needs of passengers.

Specifically, the Hanoi - Dong Hoi route runs trains QB1 and QB3 in Hanoi on April 29; Train QB2 in Dong Hoi on May 2 and 3, 2022.

Hanoi - Hue route, train SE17 runs in Hanoi on April 29; train SE18 in Hue on May 2, 2022. Hanoi - Da Nang route, train SE19 runs in Hanoi on April 29, train SE20 in Da Nang on May 2, 2022.

In addition, on the Hanoi - Hai Phong route, from April 22 to May 4, trains HP1, LP3, LP5, LP7 run regularly every day from Hanoi (Long Bien) to Hai Phong and trains HP2, LP2, LP6, LP8 from Hai Phong to Hanoi.

At the same time, the railway industry announced that it will resume the SE3/SE4 train pair between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to serve people's travel needs during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, after a period of shortening the journey.

Accordingly, from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, from April 25 to May 3, train SE4 departs from Ho Chi Minh City at 8:10 p.m., departs from Da Nang station at 3:16 p.m., and arrives at Hanoi station at 8:21 a.m.

From Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, from April 27 to May 5, train SE3 departs from Hanoi station at 7:25 p.m., arrives at Da Nang station at 12:21 p.m., and arrives in Ho Chi Minh City at 6:22 a.m.

From April 5, 2022, compared to the previous schedule, the SE3/SE4 train pair will add Tra Kieu station (Quang Nam) as a pick-up and drop-off station. SE3 train departs from Tra Kieu station at 13:03, SE4 train departs at 14:08.

During this peak season, the railway still maintains a policy of reducing round-trip tickets by 5-10% and discounts for social policy beneficiaries: Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war invalids, the elderly, students, etc.
