A farmer in Bac Thanh commune said: "My family cultivates 3 sao (approximately 0.3 hectares) of rice. Thanks to proper care and favorable weather, the rice plants have large ears and firm grains. However, the heavy rains in the past few days have flattened many rice fields. We will only mobilize manpower to re-erect the rice after the water recedes."

Mr. Le Van Hong, Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Yen Thanh district, said: This spring, Yen Thanh district planted over 12,000 hectares of rice. The heavy rains from May 1st have damaged more than 40 hectares.Spring rice crops in Yen Thanh have been flattened.,This poses a risk to productivity. Communes with large areas of flattened rice fields include Bac Thanh, Nam Thanh, Lien Thanh, etc.
The district has instructed communes with areas of flattened rice fields to urgently mobilize forces to clear the flow of water in the drainage canal system, drain the water from the fields, and use materials to prop up and tie up the fallen rice plants.
