A farmer in Bac Thanh commune said: My family grows 3 sao of rice, thanks to proper care and favorable weather, the rice has big ears and firm grains. However, heavy rains in recent days have caused many rice fields to collapse. We will wait until the water recedes before mobilizing manpower to rebuild the rice fields.

Mr. Le Van Hong - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Yen Thanh district said: This spring crop, Yen Thanh district planted over 12,000 hectares of rice. The heavy rains since May 1st have damaged over 40 hectares.Spring rice in Yen Thanh was collapsed,risk affecting productivity. Communes with large areas of fallen rice include Bac Thanh, Nam Thanh, Lien Thanh...

The district has directed communes with areas of fallen rice to urgently mobilize forces to clear the flow of the drainage canal system, drain water in the fields, and use materials to erect and tie up the fallen rice./.
