The publication stated: "Imports have decreased due to sanctions... making it more difficult for Russian consumers and companies to purchase Western goods. However, exports remain strong; sanctions have not prevented Russia from exporting oil and gas to the rest of the world, and rising energy prices have increased Russia's profits."
Therefore, according to analysts, Russia's trade surplus will reach a record high in the coming months. According to the Institute of International Finance, the trade surplus in 2022 will reach $250 billion, more than double the $120 billion of 2021.
