Staged kidnapping of a 6-year-old child.
Vu Quoc Son, 22 years old, texted a woman saying he had kidnapped her 6-year-old grandson and demanded a ransom of 200 million VND.
On July 9th, Son was arrested by the Criminal Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police in coordination with Thu Duc City Police for investigation into his actions.Kidnapping for the purpose of extorting property.

According to the investigation, late at night, Son texted Mrs. Loan, 53 years old, in Thu Duc City, saying he was holding her 6-year-old grandchild and demanding 200 million VND, otherwise she "would not see her grandchild again".
Reporting to the police, Ms. Loan stated that a few hours earlier, her daughter, Tran Ngoc Kim Trang, had taken her niece out to play. Late at night, when her daughter hadn't brought the child home, she called, but her daughter's phone was switched off. A short time later, she received the blackmail message from an unknown number (later identified as Son).
Recognizing the seriousness of the incident, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department directed a search for the perpetrator. The following day, detectives apprehended Son and returned the child to his family.
Son confessed that Trang hired him to kidnap the child in order to extort money from the child's mother. The investigating agency is currently taking Trang's statement.
