Staged kidnapping of 6 year old child
Vu Quoc Son, 22 years old, texted the woman saying he had kidnapped her 6-year-old grandson, demanding a ransom of 200 million VND.
On July 9, Son was arrested by the Criminal Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police in coordination with Thu Duc City Police to investigate his behavior.Kidnapping for the purpose of appropriating property.

According to the investigation, late at night Son texted Ms. Loan, 53 years old in Thu Duc City, saying he was holding her 6-year-old grandson, demanding 200 million VND or "he would never see his grandson again".
Reporting to the police, Ms. Loan said that a few hours ago, her daughter, Tran Ngoc Kim Trang, had taken her grandchild out. Late at night, when she did not see her daughter bring her grandchild home, she called her but her phone was turned off. A while later, she received the above blackmail message from an unknown number (later found out to be Son).
Determining the seriousness of the incident, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department directed a search for the perpetrator. The next day, detectives arrested Son and returned the child to his family.
Son said he was hired by Trang to kidnap his grandchild to blackmail his biological mother. The investigation agency is taking Trang's statement.
