Things you need to know about attaching electronic toll collection tags.
(Baonghean.vn) - After the first two days of implementing the non-stop toll collection system, some readers have sent questions to Baonghean.vn, wondering how to transfer the non-stop toll card account after buying or selling a vehicle, whether it will be complicated and time-consuming? They also asked what to do if they previously had a toll card but didn't use it, and now they've forgotten their account password...
How to apply the electronic toll collection tag and transfer funds when buying or selling a vehicle?
Regarding this issue, Mr. Hoang Van Trung, representative of VETC in Nghe An, said: When transferring vehicle ownership, customers using the automatic toll collection service need to know certain things to avoid losing money from their toll account.

For customers selling their vehicle to someone else, simply locking the identification card is necessary to secure the account balance. Customers can lock the card themselves through the automated toll collection app (which allows customers to lock cards for vehicles under their toll account) or by calling the hotline to speak with a consultant for assistance. After purchasing a new vehicle, simply bring it to an automated toll collection service point to have the card affixed and request that the new vehicle be linked to the existing account in the system.

For customers who have purchased a vehicle with an identification tag, to use the service, they can bring their personal documents and vehicle registration papers to toll booths with automated toll collection services to transfer the vehicle's tag to their own traffic account (if they don't already have a traffic account, they should open a new one). This avoids the situation where money is deposited into the previous owner's account before the transfer is complete. After that, simply deposit money into the new traffic account and proceed to the automated toll lane to use the service.
What should I do if I've forgotten my account password?
For those who previously had an automatic toll collection tag but didn't use it and forgot their account password, they simply need to call the automatic toll collection service's hotline and provide the information to retrieve their password.

In addition, several related issues have also attracted the attention of many readers, such as: Where to register for a toll tag, what documents are needed, etc.
Where can I register for the tag? If I already have a free tag for crossing the Ben Thuy bridge, do I need to get another one?
Currently, there are two service providers: VETC Automatic Toll Collection Company Limited and VDTC Vietnam Digital Transport Joint Stock Company. The identification cards from both companies can be used at automated toll collection stations nationwide, so customers can choose either company to register for the service.
Each vehicle is only allowed to have one type of electronic toll collection tag. If a vehicle owner intentionally affixes two tags from two different service providers, errors will occur when passing through the toll station because the scanner will not be able to accurately identify the vehicle and account.

Vehicle owners who wish to have a VETC tag affixed can do so at vehicle inspection centers and toll stations, using the VETC tag provided by Viettel. Alternatively, vehicle owners can purchase the VETC tag at Viettel Store locations.
For vehicles that have already been fitted with tags and are automatically exempt from tolls at the Ben Thuy toll station (locally exempted vehicles), people do not need to add more tags; they only need to deposit money directly or via online banking into their traffic account to be able to travel nationwide.
What paperwork do I need to bring to get automated toll payment?
Regarding the required documents, these include: Identity card/Passport (original or notarized copy); Vehicle registration certificate (original or notarized copy, still valid); Vehicle inspection certificate (original or notarized copy, still valid). Bank loan agreement (if the vehicle is financed through installments, confirmation from the bank is required).

For business customers, additional documents required include a Business Registration Certificate, an Account Opening Request Form (available on the website/app or at designated locations), and a Government agency's official request letter and establishment decision. Also required are a valid photocopy or notarized copy of the representative's ID card/passport, and a power of attorney (if not the representative). Additionally, vehicle owners can register for the automatic toll collection tag service from home.

After the service provider has affixed the tag, to use it, the vehicle owner needs to download the application to their smartphone. Similar to other applications, after downloading, instructions on installation and usage will be provided. The application will contain basic information such as vehicle details, account balance, date and time of travel through each toll station, toll rates at each station, and other relevant information.
