Informing reporters about the province's socio-economic situation in the first 9 months of the year, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Van Truong said that the province's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first 6 months of 2022 is estimated to increase by 8.44%, higher than the proposed growth scenario of 7.7-8.3%, ranking 2nd in the North Central region, 18th out of 63 provinces and centrally-run cities. This is the highest growth rate in recent years. According to preliminary calculations, the province's GRDP growth rate in the first 9 months is expected to reach about 9.0%.

Export turnover in 9 months is estimated at 1,949.8 million USD, up 12.61% over the same period in 2021. Regarding investment attraction, accumulated in 2022, as of September 15, 2022, the whole province has granted new licenses to 80 projects with a total registered investment capital of 18,342.7 billion VND. Notably, in 2022, for the first time Nghe An entered the top 10 localities attracting the largest FDI in the country, with a total newly granted and adjusted capital increasing to 605.42 million USD.

According to the leader of the Department of Planning and Investment, to achieve the socio-economic target for 2022 as planned with the annual growth target of 8.5% - 9.5%, the growth scenario for the fourth quarter needs to reach 8.9 - 9.7%. This is a fairly high and challenging growth target, especially in the context of the general difficult situation. Therefore, it requires the efforts and synchronous participation of the entire political system, all levels and sectors; the joint efforts and consensus of businesses and people.

At the conference, the reporters were also informed about the following issues: Prevention of Covid-19 epidemic, dengue fever and newly emerging diseases and solutions to prevent epidemics in the coming time; The situation in China and Vietnam-China relations in recent times, forecasts of the situation in China and orientations for Vietnam-China relations in the coming time.

Regarding the propaganda orientation in the coming time, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department proposed to focus on propagating the socio-economic achievements in the first 9 months of the year; solutions to prevent epidemics; propagating the 40th anniversary of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS); 20 years of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea - DOC and 10 years of the Vietnam Law of the Sea.
