However, according to sources, despite renewed efforts by the European Commission and several EU member states, the plan still faces many obstacles and the likelihood of reaching an agreement is not very high.
Representatives from EU countries will meet with the European Commission later this week to discuss new sanctions against Russia. In addition to price caps, EU countries could impose new restrictions on certain entities and sectors such as technology and luxury goods.
According to a source, at the meeting in Brussels, representatives from various countries will seek to reach a preliminary agreement on a price ceiling ahead of the informal meeting of EU leaders in Prague on October 6th.
