However, despite renewed efforts by the European Commission and several EU member states, the plan still faces many obstacles and the possibility of reaching an agreement is not very high, according to sources.
EU representatives will meet with the European Commission later this week to discuss new sanctions against Russia. In addition to price caps, EU countries could impose new restrictions on certain entities and sectors such as technology and luxury goods.
According to a source, at the meeting in Brussels, representatives of the countries will seek to reach a preliminary agreement on the price ceiling before an informal meeting of EU leaders in Prague (Czech Republic) on October 6./.
