(Baonghean.vn) - In the early morning of September 29, two people from Thanh Yen commune went to Nam Dan district to fish when their boat capsized. One person was able to swim to shore, the other is missing.

The leader of Thanh Yen Commune People's Committee, Thanh Chuong District said that at around 4:30 a.m. on September 29, Bui Van Thanh (born in 1964) and Nguyen Canh Cao (born in 1970), both residing in My Son hamlet, Thanh Yen commune, Thanh Chuong district, used a boat to go fishing.

It was raining heavily and the floodwaters were rising. Two people were rowing a boat to the rice fields in the Middle East block, Nam Dan town, when the boat capsized. Nguyen Canh Cao was able to swim to shore, but Bui Van Thanh was missing.

Upon receiving the information, local authorities mobilized forces to search but so far there have been no results.

Previously, at 3:30 a.m. on September 29, Nguyen Huu Hoang, born in 1983, residing in Lam Hong hamlet, was swept away by the flood while fishing. At noon that day, authorities found Hoang's body.

Currently, the authorities of Thanh Chuong district are propagating and mobilizing people not to participate in fishing, collecting firewood along the banks of rivers, streams, lakes, dams, spillways... to prevent drowning accidents. At the same time, they are sending forces to guard posts and put up warning signs in dangerous flood areas.

Thanh Chuong is one of the localities severely damaged by the flood caused by the circulation of storm Noru. According to a quick report from the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district, by 9:00 a.m. on September 29, the whole district had 509 houses flooded, 2 schools in Thanh Ngoc and Thanh Nho were deeply flooded, 5 houses were eroded, 1 house collapsed, nearly 500 meters of fences of houses and agencies and units collapsed, more than 4km of concrete roads and 800 meters of canals were eroded; 95 hectares of corn and vegetables, 10 hectares of industrial crops were damaged, 150.8 hectares of fish ponds were washed away...
