Nghe An: Floodwaters recede slowly, thousands of households in downstream areas remain isolated.

According to observations by reporters on the morning of October 2nd, water levels in the communes along the Ta Lam dike in Hung Nguyen district have decreased by 10-20cm compared to October 1st. However, this is an insignificant reduction; in reality, many villages are still completely submerged. In Chau Nhan commune, all 1,100 households in hamlets 7, 8, 9, and Phu Xuan remain completely isolated. Mr. Le Khanh Quang, Chairman of the Chau Nhan Commune People's Committee, stated: "The locality is located downstream, with half of its area adjacent to the Lam River. Water from upstream continues to flow in these days, so the commune is still heavily flooded. Currently, the local authorities have mobilized tractors, boats, and canoes to transport people and vehicles in and out of the area. Residents are advised not to travel at this time; if any households lack essential supplies, they should report it so that assistance can be provided." (Photo: QA)

People's belongings and property in the flooded areas continue to be transported to the Ta Lam dike to prevent damage from rising water levels. Mr. Phan Huu Dao, Chairman of the Hung Loi Commune People's Committee, expressed his concern: "The water level has decreased slightly compared to yesterday, however, some hydroelectric power plants are still releasing water, and in 1-2 days it will flood the area again. With the weather still unpredictable, we don't know when the water will completely recede so that people can stabilize their lives..." Photo: QA

In Vinh City, there are currently three areas experiencing significant flooding, including Vinh Market, several blocks in Cua Nam Ward, and Ben Thuy Ward. As of the morning of October 2nd, the area around the West Pavilion of Vinh Market was still extensively flooded.
