Three key members of the debt collection group, unable to collect the debt, staged an assault and robbery. |
Because NVP (born in 2007, from Ben Tre) owed Hoang money and refused to pay, Hoang told his group about it. The group then planned to "lure" P out to rob him of his belongings... to settle the debt.
On the evening of October 3rd, Hoang called P and arranged to meet at a cafe in the Lu Gia residential area (Ward 15, District 11) to settle a debt issue. P and a friend went to the meeting point to meet Hoang. While the three were talking, Hoang's group, who had been lying in wait, rushed in, used helmets to beat P and his friend, and then stole two mobile phones. To avoid being caught, the group pretended to steal Hoang's wallet and phone as well before leaving.
Hoang and P reported the incident to the police. The District 11 police, in coordination with the Criminal Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City, launched an investigation and successively arrested the members of the robbery group, uncovering the group's scheme of staging robberies.
