Early digital transformation helps businesses increase competitive advantage

Effective and successful digital transformation will help businesses reduce costs, increase revenue, increase market share and will be a competitive advantage for businesses in today's fierce market trends.

Within the framework of the 3rd International Exhibition on Supporting Industries (CNHT) and Manufacturing in Vietnam - VIMEXPO 2022, the specialized workshop "Promotingdigital transformation, towards a smart production model" taking place on the afternoon of November 17 attracted a lot of attention from businesses and experts.

Deputy Director of the Department of Industry (Ministry of Industry and Trade) Pham Tuan Anh said that in recent years, the world has been facing many great and complex changes. The trend of globalization as well as Vietnam's participation in a series of new-generation free trade agreements will greatly and deeply affect the need for development and participation in industry value chains in the manufacturing sector. This requires businesses to have new approaches to promote production, improve competitiveness and connectivity in the Vietnamese economy.

"The 4.0 revolution, in which digital transformation emerges as an important inevitable solution, has brought many breakthrough opportunities forbusiness, gradually changing the traditional way of operating the supply chain. Effective and successful digital transformation will help businesses reduce costs, increase revenue, increase market share and will be a competitive advantage for businesses in today's fierce market trends," Mr. Pham Tuan Anh emphasized.

According to the leader of the Department of Industry, the development of supporting industries is not outside the general context and trend, including digital transformation. To catch up withglobal digitalization trendsIn addition to documents creating a legal corridor for the development of supporting industries, the Prime Minister has signed and issued Decision No. 749/QD-TTg approving the national digital transformation program until 2025, with a vision to 2030. This makes many businesses expect it to be a big boost to develop the supporting industries and processing and manufacturing industry in Vietnam.

Agreeing with Vietnam's policies related to promoting the supporting industry in general and digital transformation in supporting industry enterprises in particular, Mr. Jang Yoon Ho - Director of Partner Support Department, Samsung Electronics Vietnam Company shared that since coming to Vietnam, Samsung has focused on training for Vietnamese satellite enterprises to improve quality and increase localization content. In the period 2015-2021, Samsung Vietnam has consulted nearly 400 enterprises in this field.

"In 2022-2023, our "Smart Factory" project will train 100 Vietnamese experts and provide consulting and improvement support to 50 businesses to improve the professional capacity of domestic consulting experts and improve the production operation capacity on the information technology platform of businesses," said Mr. Jang Yoon Ho.

According to Mr. Jang, enterprises in the supporting industry should implement digital transformation as soon as possible because this is the foundation of smart factories. Digital transformation is not just about applying IT but must be "transformed" in the thinking of leaders to optimize production processes and increase competitiveness. In which, IT is only a tool, not the destination.

Also within the framework of the Workshop, experts from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Industrial Development Support Center (IDC), Toyota Vietnam,... made presentations on the issue of digital transformation. Most opinions expressed that digital transformation is an inevitable trend to participate in the global supply chain that businesses must implement whether they want to or not.
