Nghe An: Highlights of December 3rd

Later that afternoon, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Member of the Political Bureau and President of Vietnam, visited the Truong Bon National Historical Site to lay flowers and offer incense, expressing his profound respect, admiration, and gratitude to the outstanding sons and daughters who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc laid flowers and offered incense at the Ho Phi family ancestral temple, commemorating and paying tribute to the ancestors of the Ho family and the poet Ho Xuan Huong, and offered incense at the memorial monument to the poet Ho Xuan Huong.

The poet Ho Xuan Huong (1772 - 1822) was the daughter of Mr. Ho Phi Dien, from the Ho Phi clan of Quynh Doi commune, Quynh Luu district - a clan with a tradition of academic achievement, many members of which were highly accomplished scholars and intellectuals of their time.

Ho Xuan Huong was an outstanding female poet of Vietnam in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, honored as "The Queen of Nom Poetry" with many works reaching the pinnacle of Nom poetry, a rare phenomenon in world literature.

At its 41st General Assembly session in November 2021, UNESCO adopted a resolution honoring and participating in the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the birth (1772 - 2022) and the 200th anniversary of the death (1822 - 2022) of the poet Ho Xuan Huong.

*As part of the series of celebrations commemorating the 250th anniversary of the birth of the poet Ho Xuan Huong, on the morning of December 3rd, Nghe An province, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam National UNESCO Committee, solemnly organized an event.International Scientific Conference: Poet Ho Xuan Huong (1772-1822) - Cultural Figure and Heritage Value.

In his opening remarks at the conference, Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung emphasized that, with the spirit of not only honoring, appreciating, and learning from, but more importantly, absorbing and promoting the value of Ho Xuan Huong's heritage in the modern era, the purpose of the scientific conference is to announce and widely publicize UNESCO's recognition and participation in commemorating the 250th anniversary of the birth (1772-2022) and the 200th anniversary of the death (1822-2022) of the cultural figure Ho Xuan Huong; and at the same time, to create a new spiritual atmosphere in understanding, researching, receiving, and promoting the value of the cultural heritage of the female poet and renowned figure Ho Xuan Huong.

Furthermore, the workshop reviewed and reassessed the history of the reception of Ho Xuan Huong and the value of her legacy both domestically and internationally; announced some new collections, studies, and research on the life, career, and works of the renowned figure Ho Xuan Huong; and presented new research and proposals on the contributions, stature, and position of Ho Xuan Huong, as well as ideas and projects for promoting the value of her legacy in the new context.

At the conference, domestic and international scientists focused their discussions on clarifying the position, stature, and history of the reception and translation of Ho Xuan Huong's work; issues related to Ho Xuan Huong's background, homeland, and era; Ho Xuan Huong in relation to national culture, regional culture, and world culture; and issues concerning the poetics, artistic style, and the appeal and influence of Ho Xuan Huong's poetry...

*Poet Ho Xuan HuongShe is a rare phenomenon in Vietnamese and world literature. She embodies the fighting spirit, aspirations, and the demand for the right to life and the pursuit of happiness for women. The ideological values ​​in her works remain powerfully relevant today. At the conference, many domestic and international researchers offered their assessments and evaluations of the poet Ho Xuan Huong. All came to one conclusion: Ho Xuan Huong's poetic soul transcends the stature of her time.

*To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth and the 200th anniversary of the death of the poet Ho Xuan Huong, on December 2nd and 3rd, Nghe An province, in coordination with central ministries and agencies, organized many activities to honor the great contributions of this talented poet.
