'Trap' of selling cheap cars online

Nguyen Van Men created many Facebook accounts to post ads selling unique and cheap motorbikes and bicycles, tricking 47 people into depositing money to buy the vehicles.

On the afternoon of December 8, Cam Le District Police (Da Nang) prosecuted and detained Men, 28 years old, for fraud and property appropriation via telecommunications networks and electronic means.

According to the investigation, around July, Men created many Facebook accounts.Japanese Used Goods,Ngoc Bikeand go online to find pictures of unique old motorbikes and bicycles of car enthusiasts to download to your phone and computer.

This person then posted the pictures on groups specializing in buying and selling cars nationwide at cheap prices. To gain trust, Men also prepared documents proving the origin of the car and sent them to the buyer.

Men urged those who wanted to own the rare cars to transfer the deposit early into a bank account in his name and two other people's name if they didn't want someone else to buy them.

From July 21 to October 21, Men defrauded 47 people in Da Nang and several other provinces and cities of more than 175 million VND in deposits to buy cars. He used this money to buy drugs.

The victims, upon discovering they had been scammed, filed a complaint. When the police detained Men, he was high on drugs, so the authorities had to take him to compulsory drug rehabilitation, then extradite him to assist with the investigation.
