Authorities dismantle bribery and fraud ring involved in vehicle inspections.
Using the tactic of creating lists of vehicles for inspection without actually working at the inspection center, the perpetrators forged the signatures of inspection officers to sign inspection documents for vehicles with illegally modified cargo beds.
On December 9th, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency issued a decision to initiate a criminal case, indict and temporarily detain 18 suspects for investigation into acts of bribery, brokering bribery, receiving bribes, and forgery in the operation of motor vehicle inspection.
The incident occurred at the 62-03D Motor Vehicle Inspection Center in Duc Hoa District, Long An Province, and the 50-15D Inspection Center on Hoang Huu Nam Street in Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City).
These decisions and orders were approved by the People's Procuratorate at the same level.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Police focused on combating and dismantling a network involved in bribery, brokering bribes, receiving bribes, and forgery in official duties. This included the creation of registration lists without actually working at the vehicle inspection center in Ho Chi Minh City to legitimize the process, and instructing subordinates to forge the signatures of inspection officers on inspection documents, allowing dump trucks to have their bodies and cargo beds modified.

Using the tactic of creating lists of vehicles for inspection without actually working at the inspection center, the perpetrators forged the signatures of inspection officers to sign inspection documents for vehicles with illegally modified cargo beds. These vehicles were then illegally inspected and allowed to circulate normally, posing a potential traffic safety risk.
The case is currently under expanded investigation by the Police Investigation Agency to clarify the responsibilities of those involved.
