US points out Russia's powerful weapons after nuclear
(Baonghean.vn) - Putting nuclear weapons aside, Russia's submarine fleet is the biggest threat to the US in particular and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in general.

The US Newsweek newspaper said that Russia's submarine fleet is considered a formidable force. The US and its allies are trying to "get ahead" in the arms race, because Russia "has the ability to attack" anywhere.
NATO is increasingly concerned that Russian attack submarines, ballistic missile submarines, and specialized submersibles could be used to threaten or attack its economic and military infrastructure. This concern has been particularly heightened since Russia’s annexation of Crimea. Russia is deploying submarines more frequently, on longer missions, and increasingly operating near critical undersea infrastructure. As a result, detecting and tracking these submarines in the vast ocean is a challenging task for NATO.
Currently, Russia's Yasen-class submarines are considered exceptionally quiet, and carry land-attack cruise missiles that NATO commanders fear could be used to attack US or European infrastructure, should they enter the Atlantic in the event of a war.
