Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Australian Prime Minister exchange with Vietnam Women's Football Team

(Baonghean.vn) - During the official visit to Vietnam, the Australian Prime Minister and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh exchanged and met with the Vietnam National Women's Football Team and the Australian U20 Team.

On the afternoon of June 4, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Australian Prime Minister attended a meeting with Vietnamese and Australian women's football players at the United Nations International School of Hanoi (UNIS Hanoi).

The event was co-organized by the Australian Embassy and UNICEF Vietnam in Hanoi. The Australian U20 Women's Football Team (currently competing in the second qualifying round of the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Championship in Vietnam) had a training session with Vietnamese female players.

The Vietnam Women's Football Team has qualified for the 2023 World Cup finals by finishing 5th at the 2022 Asian Cup. Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team are preparing to train in Germany to prepare for the 2023 Women's World Cup, which will take place from July 20 to August 20 in Australia and New Zealand.

Meeting and encouraging players participating in training, the two Prime Ministers emphasized the important role of sports in empowering women and girls and developing their full potential.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also encouraged head coach Mai Duc Chung and the team members.Vietnam women's team, wish the team success in their first participation in the World Cup.

Wishing both teams to make efforts to achieve the best results, the Prime Minister said that no matter what the results of the matches are, the most important thing is that the players compete, give their all with a noble sportsmanship spirit, overcome and conquer themselves, meet the expectations of the fans, for the sake of the flag and colors of the Fatherland.

After successfully defending the title at the 32nd SEA Games, the Vietnam Women's Team is training at the Youth Football Training Center (Vietnam Football Federation). After 2 friendly matches, the team will soon finalize the list of participants in the training trip to Germany and Poland.

The Vietnam Women's Team will have 3 friendly matches with Eintracht Frankfurt Club (June 10), Short Mainz Club (June 15) and the German Women's Team (June 24). During this time, the Vietnam Women's Team will also have a short trip to Poland and have a friendly match with U23 Poland on June 21.

After this training trip, the Vietnam Women's Team will return home and continue training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center before moving to New Zealand on July 5. In this final stage, coach Mai Duc Chung and his students will have more than 10 days of training and friendly matches with hosts New Zealand and Spain, before officially starting their journey at the 2023 World Cup./.
