(Baonghean.vn) - This summer, in the mountainous district of Tuong Duong, many reading libraries have been organized to serve children in order to create useful playgrounds, help them stay away from unhealthy activities and reduce accidents, especially drowning.

As a mountainous district, Tuong Duong is known as a locality with a dense system of rivers, streams, ponds and lakes. Meanwhile, children and students are often playful, very active, and adventurous. Coupled with the hot weather, they often sneak out of their families to go swimming in rivers and streams, playing around, potentially putting them at risk of drowning. Drowning accidents are one of the top threats to children, especially in the hot summer. Recently, there have been tragic drowning incidents in the area, causing great concern among the public.

In order to contribute to creating a useful playground for students and also help them stay away from unhealthy activities and minimize accidents, especially drowning, in recent years, every summer, many schools open libraries and many teachers open reading spots to serve students at home.

According to data provided by the Department of Education and Training of Tuong Duong district. As of July 11, 105 reading spots have been opened in the whole district (at schools, community cultural houses, teachers' houses...)

This summer, Ms. Luong Thi Hoa's house in Quang Yen village, Tam Dinh commune (Tuong Duong) is a place where children in and outside the village often come to read and borrow books. As a teacher at Tam Dinh Kindergarten, when the summer vacation started, she proactively borrowed books from the school library to open a library at home to serve students in and outside the village.

Ms. Hoa shared: “Summer is almost here and the children in Quang Yen village have no place to play and have fun. With their active nature, they come up with their own games to play, many of which are potentially dangerous, especially drowning. Therefore, I borrowed books from the school and the Department of Education and Training to open a reading spot at home for the children. To let parents know about the reading spot, I posted information on social networks such as Zalo and Facebook, so that parents know and bring their children to read books. Since opening the reading spot, my family has always been filled with the voices, laughter, and reading of children. I am very happy when many children come to read and borrow books.”

Kha Duy Khang, a 5th grade student at Tam Dinh Primary School, who regularly visits Ms. Luong Thi Hoa’s house to read books, shared: “I really like going to the library at Ms. Hoa’s house because there are many interesting and meaningful books. Coming here, we can discover many things through books and newspapers, and are also warmly welcomed by the teacher, served with fans and drinks.”

The library has been well received by parents and students since its opening. This is because children who come here not only learn knowledge from books but also have fun, interact with friends, and relax on hot days. Ms. Vi Thi May, in Quang Yen village, Tam Dinh commune, said: "Since the village has a library, I often bring my children here to read books, so I feel secure to do housework."

Like every year, this year Tam Quang 2 Primary School in the border commune of Tam Quang continues to open the school library for students to come and read and borrow books. Ms. Duong Thi Duyen, in charge of the library, said: "The school library has many types of books, so during the summer, the children come here to study and play in an airy, clean space, and meet and interact with many friends of the same age and interests, so the children are very happy, many of them even borrow books to read at home."
