(Baonghean.vn) - During these days of July, continuing the tradition and moral principle of the Vietnamese people, "Drinking water, remember the source," the youth of districts in the province have been organizing many practical and meaningful activities to express their gratitude to policy beneficiary families and those who have contributed to the revolution.

From early morning, members of the Youth Union of Long Son commune, Anh Son district, gathered at the home of Mrs. Dang Thi Cuc in Hamlet 6, a former Youth Volunteer and disabled veteran (category 4/4), to prepare for a "meal of gratitude." This is an annual activity organized by the Long Son Commune Youth Union to express gratitude to families of disabled veterans and those who contributed to the revolution on the occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27th. After preparing all the necessary ingredients—shrimp, meat, vegetables, fruits, cakes—without being told, everyone pitched in, each doing their part. Some picked vegetables and prepared food, others cleaned the house, and still others cooked… Photo: Thai Hien

While working, everyone listened as Mrs. Dang Thi Cuc recounted stories of breaking rocks, building roads, and transporting ammunition and weapons to the battlefield. Mrs. Dang Thi Cuc said emotionally, “Throughout the years, the Party, the State, and the authorities at all levels have always shown concern and encouragement, especially during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year). Being alone at home every day is lonely, but today, having the young people from the Youth Union come to help clean the house and cook a meal together, I am very moved. It makes the house feel warmer and more joyful.” (Photo: Thai Hien)

Ms. Tran Thi Hien, Secretary of the Long Son Commune Youth Union, said that every year the Youth Union, in coordination with other organizations in the commune, carries out many programs to honor War Invalids and Martyrs Day. This year, we are very happy to organize a "Meal of Gratitude" at the home of Mrs. Dang Thi Cuc. This is an opportunity for our young generation to be educated and to recall the tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source," and to express gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives and blood for national independence. From there, young people like us will strive to do our best to contribute and become useful members of society, building a more prosperous and beautiful homeland. Photo: Thai Hien

Nghia Dan District has mobilized donations and invested billions of VND to build and repair martyrs' cemeteries and memorial monuments in its communes and towns. The district's martyrs' cemeteries have been renovated and are now spacious, clean, and beautiful; currently, all communes and towns in the district have memorial monuments bearing the names of martyrs… Visiting and offering incense in remembrance during holidays and festivals is regularly organized by the local authorities. This has significantly contributed to comforting families of war veterans and helping them feel more at peace amidst the pain and loss of war. Photo: Minh Thai

One familiar sight during these July days at war cemeteries is that members of the Youth Union at various branches take turns cleaning the cemetery grounds and tending to the graves of fallen soldiers by repairing damaged flower vases and incense burners, cleaning and wiping each grave.
