Suspect arrested for trafficking women abroad.
(Baonghean.vn) - On July 20, the Criminal Investigation Agency of Tuong Duong District Police initiated legal proceedings and temporarily detained Kha Thi Phuong (born in 1986), residing in Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong district, for the crime of human trafficking, and simultaneously rescued two victims.
Previously, through intelligence gathering in the area, the police in Tuong Duong district discovered a suspected human trafficking ring operating in Mai Son commune, Tuong Duong district, using sophisticated and cunning methods.
In light of this situation, the Tuong Duong District Police reported to the provincial police leadership to establish a special investigation case to combat and clarify the matter.
During the investigation, the police determined that Kha Thi Phuong was involved in a human trafficking ring. Accordingly, Phuong colluded with several individuals abroad to lure workers from Tuong Duong district to work overseas with promises of "easy work and high pay," but in reality, they were forced to become wives of foreign men.
Using the above tactics, in August 2016, Kha Thi Phuong lured and enticed two women residing in Mai Son commune, Tuong Duong district, to be sold abroad for the equivalent of 350 million VND.
At the police station, Kha Thi Phuong confessed to all of her crimes.
The investigation into this case is being expanded to ensure it is handled in accordance with the law.
