Authorities dismantled a large-scale gambling ring operating through lottery and betting schemes, arresting 17 individuals.

Previously, through intelligence gathering, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police discovered a gambling ring operating in the form of...record lottery numbers.With a very large volume of daily transactions, the amount of money used by these individuals for gambling ranged from 800 million to 1 billion VND per day.

This is a high-tech, organized gambling ring with a secretive and sophisticated modus operandi, employing numerous tactics to cover up its crimes.

The ringleader of this gambling operation is Nguyen Tuan Dung (born in 1982), residing in Trung Do ward, Vinh city. Dung established and operated a network of accomplices in his gambling operation across many areas in Vinh city and Hung Nguyen district.

In response to this situation, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police reported to the Provincial Police leadership to establish a special case to combat and dismantle the aforementioned group of suspects.

After a period of surveillance and the coordinated application of professional measures, on July 24th, under the direction of the Provincial Police leadership and the Head of the Provincial Police Investigation Agency, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province, in coordination with relevant units of the Ministry of Public Security and Nghe An Province, deployed numerous task forces with dozens of officers and soldiers to raid the locations and arrest 17 suspects.

Among those arrested, 16 resided in Vinh City, and one resided in Hung Nguyen District.

During the search, authorities seized 120 million VND in cash, 25 mobile phones, 3 lottery tickets, and other related evidence.

Initially, the police determined that the amount of money the suspects transacted for gambling on July 24, 2023, was 800 million VND.

Currently, the investigation into this case is ongoing and being expanded.
