Eliminate large-scale gambling ring in the form of lottery and number recording, arrest 17 subjects

Previously, through the work of grasping the situation, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Police discovered a gambling ring in the form oflot number, lottery numberwith a huge daily transaction volume. The amount of money used for gambling ranges from 800 million to 1 billion VND/day.

This is a high-tech gambling ring, organized and operating in a secretive and sophisticated manner with many tricks to erase traces of crime.

The leader of this gambling ring is Nguyen Tuan Dung (born 1982), residing in Trung Do ward, Vinh city. Dung has formed and operated a network of underlings in his gambling ring in many areas in Vinh city and Hung Nguyen district.

Faced with that situation, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Police reported to the Provincial Police leaders to establish a special project to fight and dismantle the above-mentioned group of subjects.

After a period of monitoring and synchronous application of professional measures, on July 24, under the direction of the Provincial Police leaders and the Head of the Provincial Police Investigation Agency, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Police presided over and coordinated with relevant units of the Ministry of Public Security and Nghe An Police to deploy many working groups with dozens of officers and soldiers to raid locations and arrest 17 subjects.

Among the arrested subjects, 16 subjects reside in Vinh city and 1 subject resides in Hung Nguyen district.

During the search, the authorities temporarily seized 120 million VND in cash, 25 mobile phones, 3 lottery cables and some other evidence.

Initially, the police agency clarified that the amount of money the subjects transacted for gambling on July 24, 2023 was 800 million VND.

Currently, the case is being further investigated and expanded.
