(Baonghean.vn) - The new school year is approaching, however many schools in the mountainous district of Ky Son are still worried about not having enough students, because many students who went to the South to visit their parents have not returned yet.

These days,Highland teacherKy Son district has started to return to school to prepare for the new school year. At the same time, the district's functional departments and agencies also called on schools to quickly mobilize students who are visiting relatives in the South to return early to start the new school year.

At Keng Du Kindergarten - one of the schools in the most remote border commune of Ky Son district, the working atmosphere is bustling throughout the school yard. Although they have just returned from summer leave, the teachers here have immediately started cleaning and repairing the school facilities. With the help of forces stationed in the area such as the Border Guard Station and the Youth Union, the work is less difficult for the teachers.

Ms. Hoang Thi Lan - Principal of Keng Du Kindergarten said: In the 2023 - 2024 school year, the whole school has 350 students. To prepare the best conditions for the children to go to school, teachers, in addition to preparing facilities, also have to go to the villages to clean the classrooms. At the beginning of the new school year, students must have a place to study, eat, rest and play.

At Tay Son Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, teachers are currently working hard to clean up and prepare to welcome students back to school as planned. In the 2023-2024 school year, the school has 358 students, including both primary and secondary school levels.

According to Ms. La Thi Thanh Huyen - Vice Principal of the school, due to the local characteristics of the Mong ethnic group, the area is scattered and divided, so it is currently not possible to assign teachers to the villages to grasp the number of students currently present in the locality.

“Students will not return to school until August 28 as planned, but with a special area like Tay Son commune, we have to do a good job of mobilizing them in advance. After Tet, many parents go to work far away in the southern provinces, and when summer comes, children also follow their parents by car, so we have to go to the villages to learn about the situation and find ways to contact parents to bring the children back to school,” Ms. La Thi Thanh Huyen shared.

According to some schools in Ky Son district, the number of students going to the South to visit relatives cannot be counted yet, because the schools have just gathered teachers. Another worrying thing is the situation where many students go to the South to visit their parents and then stay to study there. This situation has happened in previous school years, causing the number of students at the schools to decrease.

Faced with this situation, Ky Son district has issued a document requesting communes and schools in the district to review the number of students who are visiting their parents both in and out of the province, to develop a plan to propagate and mobilize them to return to their hometowns before the new school year begins. Once the students have returned, they must immediately complete the enrollment and admission procedures so that they are not deprived of their educational rights.

Mr. Pham Viet Phuc - Acting Head of the Education Department of Ky Son district said: According to the plan, in the 2023 - 2024 school year, the whole district has 73 schools and more than 25,000 students. Previously, the number of students going to the South to visit their parents was quite large. During the Covid-19 epidemic, many students were stuck there, which greatly affected their studies. Therefore, this school year, the district Education Department issued an official dispatch from the beginning to avoid the situation where students could not return to school on time./.
