When driving in rainy or foggy weather, car windows often fog up, compromising safety. So how can you deal with this situation?

Turn on the defroster.

This is the simplest and most effective way to deal with foggy car windows. Most cars are equipped with a defroster function, and the adjustment button is always conveniently located for the driver.

Specifically, the defroster activation button is always located on the air conditioning control panel. This button is also easily recognizable by its upward-facing arrows.

Cars typically have two buttons for defrosting the front and rear windows. The front defroster button is usually shaped like a fan opening up on the windshield. Some cars may have the word "front" written on it. The rear defroster button is shaped like a square and often includes the word "rear".

Typically, after turning on the defroster function, the fogging on the windshield will be completely resolved in about 5-10 minutes.

Note that when using the defroster function, the car doors must be closed. If left open, this function will be almost useless or very ineffective. Additionally, many people often place a mat on the dashboard, obstructing the airflow. Therefore, when using the defroster, to speed up the drying process, you should temporarily remove the mat from the dashboard.

Adjust the air conditioner.

For older car models that are not equipped with a defroster, you can also remedy foggy windows by adjusting the air conditioning system accordingly. This will help regulate the temperature inside the cabin, thereby reducing the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the car.

Lower the window.

In light rain and mild weather, drivers can lower the side windows by about 10-15cm. This will help balance the temperature between the car's interior and the outside environment. However, windows should not be lowered too much to avoid affecting the health of passengers and the car's interior.

Turn the fan on high.

To prevent the windshield from fogging up, drivers can turn on the fan in outside air intake mode and adjust the vents to direct airflow towards the windshield. This method helps to concentrate the airflow on the windshield, balancing the temperature and humidity between the inside and outside of the car, preventing the windshield from fogging up.

Nano coating for car windows

Nano coating for glass is also considered an effective way to treat foggy car windows when driving in rain or fog.

Nano coating for glass refers to applying a protective film to the car's windshield or other glass surfaces. This nano coating, with its high gloss and hardness, helps prevent scratches, repels water and dust from the surface. As a result, the car's glass remains clear, doesn't become cloudy, and has a longer lifespan.

Use anti-fogging products.

Besides using the air conditioning system or the defroster function, many drivers also share an effective tip for dealing with foggy car windows in the rain: using anti-fog products to wipe small areas of the car's glass.

These include using a dry cloth, absorbent paper, additives, or shaving foam. These tips can be applied in emergency situations in the car.
