Exciting contest 'Be a girl to shine'
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 30, in Hung Nguyen district, the Department of Population - Family Planning coordinated with the Hung Nguyen District Medical Center to organize the contest "Be a girl to shine".
This is a meaningful activity in response to the National Action Month on Population and Vietnam Population Day December 26.

In Vietnam, currently about 20% of the population is between the ages of 10 and 19 and this age group is facing many problems related to adolescent reproductive health, gender imbalance at birth... Meanwhile, due to the influence of old ideology, although society has paid more attention to specific policies for girls, there are still prejudices and discrimination between men and women, violence, gender inequality...

From this reality, the contest "Be a girl to shine" was organized with the message "Girls everywhere deserve to be loved and respected. When they have health, knowledge, life skills... girls as well as boys can build, develop and change society".
Participating in the contest, teams from Quang Trung Secondary School, Hung Tay Secondary School, Phuc Loi Secondary School of Hung Nguyen district went through many exciting competitions. These were the greeting competition, knowledge competition - affirmation competition, talent competition - shining competition. In these competitions, students were able to demonstrate their talents, understanding of social issues, adolescent and youth reproductive health, and express their views and voices on gender equality and the role of girls.

The contest aims to create a playground and opportunity for healthy, useful and practical exchange for girls.
Through this, it contributes to raising awareness, changing people's concepts and behaviors on gender issues, contributing to reducing gender imbalance at birth; to motivate and encourage girls to be confident and strive to exercise their equal rights in the future.
This is also an opportunity for students to demonstrate their talents, intelligence, creativity and access accurate and reliable information about reproductive health care. At the same time, it helps girls improve their understanding, knowledge and basic life skills, so that they can be aware of protecting their own health, have a healthy and pure lifestyle, maintain the innocence and loveliness of school age and be a provision to help them be more confident when entering life.

The contest is also an opportunity to highlight the role of Party committees at all levels, authorities, departments, branches, organizations, and people of all walks of life regarding the importance of children's work, especially girls.
At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to the team from Hung Tay Secondary School, the second prize to Phuc Loi Secondary School and the third prize to Quang Trung Secondary School./.
