The "Be a Girl and Shine" contest is in full swing.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 30th, in Hung Nguyen district, the Population and Family Planning Sub-Department, in coordination with the Hung Nguyen District Health Center, organized the "Being a Daughter to Shine" contest.
This is a meaningful activity in response to the National Action Month on Population and Vietnam Population Day on December 26th.

In Vietnam, approximately 20% of the population is aged 10-19, and this age group faces numerous issues related to adolescent reproductive health, gender imbalance at birth, and more. Meanwhile, due to the influence of outdated ideologies, despite increased societal attention and specific policies for girls, prejudice and discrimination between boys and girls, violence, and gender inequality persist.

Based on this reality, the "Being a Girl to Shine" contest was organized with the message: "Girls everywhere deserve to be loved and cherished. With health, knowledge, and life skills, girls, just like boys, can build, develop, and change society."
Participating in the competition, teams from Quang Trung Secondary School, Hung Tay Secondary School, and Phuc Loi Secondary School in Hung Nguyen district went through many exciting rounds. These included the greeting round, the knowledge round - the affirmation round, and the talent round - the shining round. In these rounds, students were able to showcase their talents, their understanding of social issues, adolescent and youth reproductive health, and express their views and voices on gender equality and the role of girls.

The competition aims to create a healthy, beneficial, and practical playground and opportunity for interaction among girls.
Through this, we aim to raise awareness, change people's perceptions and behaviors regarding gender issues, and help reduce gender imbalance at birth; thereby motivating and encouraging girls to be confident and strive for equality in the future.
This is also an opportunity for students to showcase their talents, intelligence, creativity, and access accurate and reliable information about reproductive health care. At the same time, it helps girls improve their understanding, knowledge, and basic life skills, so that they can consciously protect their own health, lead a healthy and wholesome lifestyle, maintain the innocence and loveliness of their school years, and be more confident as they enter adulthood.

The competition also serves as an opportunity to highlight the role of Party committees, government agencies, departments, mass organizations, and all sectors of society in emphasizing the importance of child welfare, especially for girls.
At the end of the competition, the organizing committee awarded the first prize to the team from Hung Tay Secondary School, the second prize to Phuc Loi Secondary School, and the third prize to Quang Trung Secondary School.
