Gender equality leads to civilization and happiness.
(Baonghean.vn) - The People's Committee of Nghe An province recently organized a competition titled "Understanding Knowledge and Laws on Gender Equality, Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence, and the Advancement of Women in Universities, Colleges, and Vocational Schools." The competition received enthusiastic participation from students.
The competition is divided into two rounds: a preliminary round conducted online with multiple-choice questions, and a live round in a staged format.
The preliminary round involved 25 universities, colleges, and vocational schools, with 10,602 entries/7,333 candidates participating...
With questions testing knowledge of gender equality laws and the prevention and response to gender-based violence, many students demonstrated their understanding and concern by participating in the competition and answering almost all questions posed by the organizers. Institutions such as Vinh University, Viet-Duc College of Nghe An, and Yen Thanh Technical College had the highest number of participating students and achieved the best results.

Student Ha Van Dam, class 61B2, Faculty of Law, Vinh University, said: “To participate in the competition, we had previously studied the Law on Gender Equality and other regulations, policies, and decrees on women's affairs and gender equality. Through this, we equipped ourselves with legal knowledge about gender equality so that we could participate confidently and achieve spectacular victories... In our Faculty of Law alone, 90% of our students participated. They saw this as an opportunity to learn about women's law in a lively and interesting way. What's special is that, because we were thoroughly briefed on the nature and appeal of the competition, all participating students from the Faculty of Law achieved excellent scores.”

Besides Vinh University, Yen Thanh Technical College also had a large number of students participating in the competition and achieved many noteworthy results. Ms. Vu Thi Hong Phuc, Vice Principal of Yen Thanh Technical College, said: “Our school received information about the competition enthusiastically and quickly had a large number of students register for the preliminary round. After selecting 8 outstanding students with performance talent and equipping them with knowledge of gender equality laws, they quickly began practicing with the spirit of bringing home awards for the school. Through the competition, we realized that male students really want to express their views and opinions on gender equality in the 4.0 era.”
After the preliminary round, the competition organizers selected 10 schools to participate in the finals. These schools have undergone intensive training and selected compelling scripts that align with the message they want to convey. Ms. Doan Minh Trang, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union and lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Vinh University, stated: "Vinh University is participating with 20 students, and they have been practicing for a month now with great enthusiasm. The message that the Vinh University team is bringing to the competition is towards a civilized, fair, equal, and happy family."
Teacher Doan Minh Trang added: After the opening remarks, the competition on gender equality laws was a play, part of the talent contest, which the students had invested weeks of effort in practicing. The play depicted a family that favored sons over daughters and was not as happy as other families. The wife, the daughter-in-law, stayed at home to manage the household but was not appreciated. The conflict reached its peak when, in a fit of anger, the couple decided to divorce. After the divorce, the husband reflected on his actions, and with the advice of colleagues and neighbors, he awakened and longed to reconcile with his wife. At the end of the play, the family reunited and looked forward to a happy future.
Pham Thi Kim Chi, a student in class 62B2, Faculty of Law, Vinh University, said: "I was fortunate to be chosen for the lead role. This is also a character I feel most proud of, as she dared to speak frankly and truthfully, expressing her opinions to her abusive husband..."

In addition, some teams, such as the Vietnam-Germany College of Nghe An, also brought to the competition a message of gender equality in the family, school, and society as a whole. Teacher Nguyen Hong Phuc - lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department and Secretary of the Youth Union of the Vietnam-Germany College of Nghe An - said: Through the short play titled "Change," the team wanted to convey to everyone a profound message: "Women and men are equal in participating in and making decisions regarding all matters in the family and society." By participating in the competition, the Vietnam-Germany College of Nghe An hopes to promote gender equality to end gender-based violence, cultivate and spread love through concrete actions for a civilized, safe, and violence-free community life, free from sexual abuse.

Throughout the final night of the competition, there were intense intellectual battles, with no clear winner in the knowledge and legal quizzes on gender equality, violence prevention and response; and emotionally charged plays that elicited continuous applause from the audience in the talent competition. Through these plays, the competing teams hoped to spread a powerful message to the viewers: The whole society must work together to achieve true gender equality.

The competition organizers awarded one first prize and two second prizes. Ms. Le Thi Nguyet, Head of the Department of Children, Gender Equality, and the Advancement of Women, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, said: "The competition is a channel for disseminating information to raise social awareness on gender equality and the advancement of women. Through this competition, we once again affirm that a civilized and happy society is achieved when true gender equality is attained."
