Gender equality leads to civilization and happiness
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An Provincial People's Committee has just organized a contest "Learning knowledge and laws on gender equality, preventing and responding to gender-based violence, for the advancement of women in universities, colleges and secondary schools". The contest received enthusiastic responses from students.
The contest is divided into two rounds, the preliminary round in the form of online tests with multiple choice questions and the live round in the form of dramatization.
The preliminary round had 25 universities, colleges and vocational schools participating, with 10,602 entries/7,333 candidates taking the exam...
With the questions on knowledge of gender equality law, prevention and response to gender-based violence, many students have shown their understanding and interest through participating in the contest and answering almost all the questions given by the contest organizers. Units such as Vinh University, Viet-German College Nghe An, Yen Thanh Technical College are the units with the largest number of students participating and achieving the highest results.

Student Ha Van Dam, class 61B2, Faculty of Law, Vinh University said: “To participate in the contest, we previously studied the Law on Gender Equality and regulations, policies, and decrees on women's work and gender equality. Through that, we equipped ourselves with legal knowledge on gender equality so that we could confidently enter the contest and win spectacular victories... Our Faculty of Law alone had 90% of the students participating. They considered this an opportunity to learn about knowledge and laws on women in a lively and interesting way. What is special is that because we were thoroughly informed about the nature of the contest as well as its appeal, all the students of the Faculty of Law who participated achieved excellent scores.”

In addition to Vinh University, Yen Thanh Technical College is also a unit with a large number of students participating in the contest and achieving many remarkable results. Teacher Vu Thi Hong Phuc - Vice Principal of Yen Thanh Technical College said: "Our school received information about the contest enthusiastically and quickly had a large number of students register for the preliminary round. After selecting 8 excellent students with talent for performing and equipped with legal knowledge on gender equality, they quickly started practicing with the spirit of having to bring the prize back to the school. Through the contest, we realized that the boys really want to express their views and opinions on gender equality in the 4.0 era".
After the preliminary round, the organizing committee selected 10 schools to participate in the final round. The teams had days of intense practice and selected good scripts that were consistent with the message that needed to be promoted for the competition. Teacher Doan Minh Trang - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union, teacher of the Faculty of Law, Vinh University said: Vinh University participated in this competition with 20 students and they have been practicing for the past month with great spirit. The message that the Vinh University Team brought to the competition is towards civilized, fair, equal and happy families.
Teacher Doan Minh Trang added: After the greetings, the contest on understanding the law on gender equality was a play in the talent contest that the students had put a lot of effort into practicing for many weeks. The content of the play is about a male-dominated family that is not as happy as other families. The wife and daughter-in-law stay at home to do housework and take care of all the family matters but are not respected. The conflict reached its peak when in a fit of anger, the couple decided to divorce. After the divorce, the husband thought about it again, and with the advice of colleagues and neighbors, he woke up and longed to get back with his wife. At the end of the play, the family got back together and looked forward to a happy future.
Student Pham Thi Kim Chi, class 62B2, Faculty of Law, Vinh University said: I was lucky to be chosen for the female lead role. This is also a character that I feel passionate about, when she dared to speak frankly, honestly, and express her opinion in front of her abusive husband...

In addition, some teams such as Viet-Germany College Nghe An also brought to the contest the message of gender equality in the family, school and the whole society. Teacher Nguyen Hong Phuc - lecturer of the Faculty of Mechanics, Secretary of the Youth Union of Viet-Germany College Nghe An said: Through the play "Change", the contest team wants to convey to everyone a profound communication message that "Women and men are equal in participating and making decisions for all work in the family and society". Coming to the contest, Viet-Germany College Nghe An wants to implement gender equality to end gender violence, foster and spread love, through specific actions and deeds for a civilized, safe, violence-free and sexual abuse-free community life.

Throughout the program, the final night featured fierce intellectual battles, with no clear winner or loser in the competition on knowledge and laws on gender equality, prevention and response to violence; or plays that brought many emotions with endless applause from the audience in the talent competition. Through these plays, the teams hoped to spread a strong message to the audience: The whole society must join hands to achieve true gender equality.


The organizing committee of the contest awarded 1 first prize and 2 second prizes. Ms. Le Thi Nguyet - Head of the Department of Children, Gender Equality, and Women's Advancement, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said: The contest is a propaganda channel to raise social awareness in gender equality and women's advancement. Through this contest, it once again affirms that a civilized and happy society will achieve true gender equality.
