Highlights of Nghe An Industry and Trade in 2023

(Baonghean.vn) - In 2023, the implementation of targets and tasks in the industry and trade sector will face many difficulties, but thanks to the synchronous, drastic and flexible implementation of solutions, the industry and trade sector will still achieve many positive results.

Industry and export overcome difficulties

Industrial production and trade activities in 2023 will take place in the context of the world economy continuing to face inflation, declining consumer demand, global trade and orders; the trade war between major economies continues, the Russia-Ukraine conflict is complicated; input material prices often fluctuate at high levels... Those difficulties have adversely affected the production and business activities of enterprises in the province and the whole country.

In that context, from the beginning of the year, the Department of Industry and Trade has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue many important policies, mechanisms and strategies to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management; propose specific and timely solutions, creating a favorable environment to complete the tasks in 2023.

Mr. Pham Van Hoa - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said: The world market has many fluctuations, export is difficult, therefore, the industry has focused on directing production to serve the domestic market. Many businesses focus on investing, innovating technology, machinery and production equipment, increasing product competitiveness; at the same time, actively exploiting the potential domestic market. Thanks to the drastic application of solutions, on the one hand actively seeking new markets, on the other hand exploiting the domestic market well, despite the impact of the world economic recession and domestic difficulties, in 2023, many planned targets such as industrial production, export turnover, and trade increased quite well. The industrial growth rate is estimated to increase by 8.8%, the industrial production value reached 89,100 billion VND, up 10% over the same period, among the highest growth rates in the country.

Some industrial products are estimated to increase compared to the same period thanks to good exploitation of domestic market demand such as: yogurt 47 thousand tons, up 6.38%; fresh milk 245 million liters, up 11.26%; animal feed 156 thousand tons, up 14.02%; bottled beer 37.5 million liters, up 0.87%; fertilizer 49 thousand tons, up 28.9%; commercial electricity 4.2 million kWh, up 2.68%; tap water 32 million m3, up 2.68%...

In particular, despite the extremely difficult international market, in 2023, the export turnover of goods is estimated to reach 2.45 billion USD, an increase of 12%, reaching 98.1% compared to the plan. Export goods are quite rich and diverse with more than 70 items/groups of items, many items have quite good growth turnover. Many businesses still ensure the production and business plans set out this year.

Regarding trade and services, the economy has gradually shown signs of recovery after the difficult months at the beginning of the year, shopping demand tends to increase again, the retail supermarket system and supply-demand connection activities continue to expand in many areas, diversifying the types of goods. In 2023, the estimated total retail sales of goods will reach VND 90,000 billion, up 10.83%/year 2022, exceeding 5.88%/year 2023 plan.

The results achieved are a testament to the efforts and dynamism of the business community; in addition to FDI enterprises, the export of goods also marks the efforts of many enterprises to overcome difficulties in finding markets and orders. Along with that, the Department of Industry and Trade has actively connected and supported businesses in many activities to expand and promote export markets. In coordination with the Vietnam Trade Office abroad, the Trade Promotion Agency - Ministry of Industry and Trade regularly provides information on the market situation, products, and trade barriers for import-export enterprises. Many conferences, seminars, and training courses are also organized to support businesses in export work...

Synchronize state management solutions

Also in 2023, the Industry and Trade sector will proactively manage planning and plans, develop many programs and projects, focusing on building and perfecting plans for the development of the industrial and commercial sectors to integrate into the Nghe An Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; Implement Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW on the construction and development of Nghe An province to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

The industry also strengthens state management of industry; focuses on directing and reviewing production plans for key industrial products, promoting products with room to increase production output to compensate for product shortages. State management of energy has achieved many good results.

In 2024, strive for an average industrial growth rate of 15-16%, ensuring the target set by the Resolution of the 19th Congress. Total retail sales of goods are estimated at 93,000 billion VND, up 3.33% compared to 2023. Exports of goods are estimated at 2,750 million USD, up 14.58% compared to 2023.
