Ukrainian political scientist: Losing Odessa means ultimate defeat.
(Baonghean.vn) - According to RT news agency on March 1st, Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev, in an interview with Politeka channel, stated that the West will not allow Ukraine to lose control of Odessa, as this would mean a complete victory for Russia.

Political scientist Karasev noted that everyone is now convinced that the worst-case scenario will not happen. However, Ukraine needs to seriously consider "worst-case scenarios".
Earlier, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev stated that it was time for Odessa to "come home," and that Russia had "been waiting for that for a long time."
Medvedev also suggested that Moscow could expand the scale of its offensive and send troops back to Kyiv to achieve the objectives of its special military operation. According to him, the reason Russia needs to bring troops back to control Kyiv is that "this city has Russian origins, but is currently controlled by an international anti-Russian apparatus led by the United States."
In early January 2024, Sky News (UK) commented: "Russian President Putin recently called Odessa 'a Russian city.' This could signal long-term plans to control the entire Black Sea coast. This is a strategically important region, with ambitions on both sides."
Sky News suggests that, in the Odessa issue, time seems to be on President Putin's side.
