(Baonghean.vn) - According to RT news agency on March 1, Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said in an interview with Politeka channel that the West will not allow Ukraine to lose control of Odessa, because this would mean a complete victory for Russia.

Political scientist Karasev notes that everyone is now convinced that such a worst-case scenario will not happen. However, Ukraine needs to seriously think about “worst-case scenarios”.

Earlier, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev declared that it was time for Odessa to "return home", and Russia had "waited for it for a long time".

Mr. Medvedev also said that Moscow could expand the scale of the attack and send troops back to Kiev to achieve the goal of a special military campaign. According to him, the reason why Russia needs to send troops back to control Kiev is that "this city has Russian origins, but is being controlled by the anti-Russian international apparatus led by the US."

In early January 2024, Sky News (UK) commented: "Russian President Putin recently called Odessa a "Russian city". This could signal long-term plans to control the entire Black Sea coast. This is an area with an important geostrategic position, which both sides are ambitious about".

Sky News believes that, in the Odessa issue, time seems to be on President Putin's side./.
