Authorities arrest the ringleader of a massive gambling operation, who was wanted by Interpol on a red notice.
Da Nang police, in coordination with relevant units, have arrested a foreign man who was wanted by Interpol on a red notice for operating an illegal gambling website.
On March 9th, the Da Nang Police announced that they had coordinated with the Department of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of Public Security) to hand over Im Ju Seob (53 years old, South Korean nationality) to the South Korean authorities for extradition and processing according to regulations.
This individual is wanted by Interpol on a red notice for operating an illegal gambling website.
According to the police, through investigative measures, since February 2024, the Immigration Management Department (Da Nang City Police) discovered that Im Ju Seob, who had an international arrest warrant, was hiding in the area.
Previously, this person had entered Vietnam through Tan Son Nhat International Airport and stayed in Ho Chi Minh City for a period of time.
After obtaining information that Im Ju Seob was temporarily staying at a hotel in Ngu Hanh Son district (Da Nang), the authorities organized an ambush, monitored, and arrested him.
Im Ju Seob is accused by South Korean authorities of operating an illegal gambling website. The website, which was hosted in the Philippines, operated from early 2017 to the end of 2019.
This website attracted a large number of players who placed bets and withdrew money through multiple bank accounts, with the total amount wagered online exceeding 44.3 billion Won (equivalent to over 800 billion Vietnamese Dong).
