Free medical examinations and screenings for nearly 4,000 children in Nghe An province.
(Baonghean.vn) - From April 2nd to 5th, with the sponsorship of the Zhi-Shan Foundation, the Nghe An Provincial Children's Protection Fund, in coordination with Vinh International Hospital and Hoan My Da Nang Hospital, organized a health screening program for children in Dien Chau, Hoang Mai, Yen Thanh, and Tan Ky districts.

The screening target includes children aged 0 to 16 years with disabilities related to: heart, eyes, cleft lip and palate, urinary and genital system, and various types of musculoskeletal disabilities, etc.
After four days of work, the team examined and performed ultrasounds on nearly 4,000 children, and recommended surgery (and follow-up) for 112 children. For cases recommended for surgery, the Provincial Children's Protection Fund will guide them in applying for funding to receive free surgery at the provincial level or referral to a higher-level facility as per regulations. For cases requiring follow-up, specialist doctors will provide advice on care and health monitoring for the children.

The screening program for children with disabilities is a deeply humane activity that has provided timely assistance and support to disabled children from disadvantaged families, enabling them to receive free medical examinations and treatment. This contributes to the implementation of the targeted program for protecting, caring for, and improving children's health in the province.
