Hailstorms and tornadoes cause damage in Ky Son.
(Baonghean.vn) - A tornado accompanied by hailstorms struck Huoi Tu commune in Ky Son border district on the afternoon of April 13, causing some damage to houses and knocking down power poles.
At approximately 4:30 PM on April 13th, a hailstorm accompanied by tornadoes and strong gusts of wind occurred in Huoi Tu commune (Ky Son district).
According to officials from the Huoi Tu commune People's Committee, hailstorms occurred in the villages of Pha Xac, Trung Tam, and Huoi Kha, affecting and damaging the houses of more than 20 households.
The hailstorm lasted only about 15 minutes, and the hailstones were quite large, with many measuring about 1-1.5 cm in diameter.
However, the hailstorm was accompanied by tornadoes and strong gusts of wind, causing the roofs of some houses to collapse, such as the house of Mr. Dềnh Bá Nênh in Huồi Khả village. The strong winds caused almost the entire roof of Mr. Nênh's house to fall, damaging many of his family's belongings.
In Trung Tam village, Mr. Vu Ba Chay's house had part of its roof collapse due to a tree falling on it.
The hailstorm, accompanied by strong gusts of wind, also knocked down a power pole on the road from Trung Tam village in Huoi Tu commune to Na Loi - Dooc May.
Local officials have informed residents to avoid the road blocked by the fallen power pole while awaiting the authorities to resolve the issue; they have also mobilized residents to assist affected households in overcoming the consequences.
