Hail and tornadoes cause damage in Ky Son
(Baonghean.vn) - A tornado accompanied by hail occurred in Huoi Tu commune of Ky Son border district on the afternoon of April 13, causing some damage to houses and breaking electric poles.
At around 4:30 p.m. on April 13, in Huoi Tu commune (Ky Son), there was hail, tornadoes, and strong gusts of wind.
According to officials of the People's Committee of Huoi Tu commune, hail occurred in Pha Xac, Trung Tam and Huoi Kha villages, affecting and damaging the houses of more than 20 households.
The hailstorm only lasted about 15 minutes, the hailstones that fell were quite large, many hailstones were about 1-1.5cm in diameter.
However, along with the hail, there were tornadoes and strong winds that caused the roofs of some houses to collapse, such as the house of Mr. Denh Ba Nhenh in Huoi Kha village. The strong winds caused almost the entire roof of Mr. Nhenh's house to collapse, falling down and damaging many of the family's belongings.
In Trung Tam village, Mr. Vu Ba Chay's house had part of its roof collapse due to a tree falling on it.
The hailstorm and strong winds also knocked down an electric pole on the road from Trung Tam village, Huoi Tu commune to Na Loi - Dooc May.
Currently, commune officials have notified people to avoid the road blocked by the fallen electric pole, waiting for authorities to fix the problem; and mobilized people to support affected households to overcome the consequences.
