Quang Hai's choked-up tears; Coach Park is preparing for a new destination.
Nearly three months ago, the Vietnamese national team suffered two defeats against Indonesia, leaving Quang Hai in tears of frustration; Daejeon FC is reportedly contacting coach Park Hang-seo to invite him to become their head coach. These are some of the prominent sports news stories from the past 24 hours.
Quang Hai's choked-up tears
Coach Troussier bid farewell to his players following two defeats against familiar opponents Indonesia at the end of March in the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. These two humiliating losses – 0-1 away at Bung Karno and 0-3 at home at My Dinh Stadium – took a heavy toll on Vietnamese football, from its place in the top 100 in the world rankings to personal disappointments, most heartbreakingly the choked-up tears of Quang Hai.
More than two months later, Quang Hai, as usual, joined the Vietnamese national team to prepare for the match against the Philippines at My Dinh Stadium on the night of June 6th. The Hanoi Police player wants to erase the painful memories and is determined to make a comeback under the new coach Kim Sang-sik.

Midfielder Quang Hai shared that, although the players had just gone through a demanding V-League season, new coach Kim Sang-sik had prepared a training plan to help his players recover and get back into rhythm with each other: “We are trying to adapt to the coach's tactical intentions. The whole team also has group video review sessions so that the players can understand and internalize the coaching staff's tactics.”
Having missed out on the South Korean national team coaching position, is Coach Park preparing for a new destination?
According to Chosun, Daejeon FC is in contact with coach Park Hang-seo to invite him to become the team's head coach.

Coach Park Hang-seo is currently in Vietnam running his eponymous football academy and advising Bac Ninh FC.
Notably, Bac Ninh also agreed to allow the South Korean coach to lead a professional team while serving as an advisor to the club.
Therefore, Daejeon FC faced almost no obstacles in approaching coach Park Hang-seo.
Immediately after breaking up, Mbappe and PSG clashed, accusing each other.
PSG and striker Kylian Mbappe exchanged heated words shortly after their partnership ended...

Mbappe has just joined Real Madrid on a free transfer from PSG. The Spanish club announced the French newcomer on June 3rd.
Having just ended his relationship with PSG, the striker born in 1998 immediately took to social media to criticize the PSG management for preventing him from playing for the team throughout the 2023-2024 season.
"PSG bluntly told me they didn't want me to play anymore," Mbappe told the media. "Coach Luis Enrique and Sporting Director Luis Campos saved me; otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to set foot on the pitch again. That's the truth, and that's why I'm grateful to Campos and Enrique."
Having returned home just one day earlier, Indonesia's formidable center-back is still fit to play against Iraq.
Jay Idzes is one of the best naturalized players Indonesia currently possesses. The 24-year-old center-back just had a successful season, helping Venezia FC secure promotion to Serie A. Because Venezia FC had to play in the promotion play-offs, Jay Idzes was unable to join the Indonesian national team like other players.

Earlier this week, Jay Idzes played in the "final" match against Venezia FC, winning 1-0 against Cremonese. Immediately afterwards, he had only one day of rest before flying back to Indonesia to join coach Shin Te-yong's team.
According to the original plan, the Indonesian team accepted the absence of Jay Idzes in the match against Iraq on June 6th.
