Chung Mountain – a famous complex of historical and scenic sites in Nam Dan, located about 1 km from Hoang Tru and Lang Sen historical sites, is a place that possesses both the beauty of nature and the beauty of history. It is a place associated with the childhood memories of President Ho Chi Minh – the national liberation hero and outstanding cultural figure.
Chung Mountain covers an area of about 100 hectares. The mountain is not very high, with its highest peak reaching 48.6 meters. It rises above the vast, expansive fields of Kim Lien commune, surrounded by mountain ranges in the distance.

On clear mornings or late afternoons, standing on the summit of Chung Mountain and gazing into the distance, we feel as if we are admiring a breathtaking natural landscape: majestic mountains, historical sites, and landmarks that bear witness to the heroic deeds of the Hong Lam region from ancient times to the present day. The famous scholar Nguyen Thiep (1723 - 1804) once praised this mountain:
"Chung Son at the summit is shaped like a royal temple."
"The heroic successors will bring prosperity to their descendants."
Mean:
"Mount Chung has the shape of the Chinese character "Wang" (王) at its summit.
"This land will forever produce heroes for generations to come.".
To the southeast, beyond the majestic mountain ranges, lies the winding, clear blue Lam River, creating a picturesque landscape. Further afield, in Duc Thai village, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province, lies the birthplace of Phan Dinh Phung – the soul of the Huong Khe uprising.

To the south and southwest lies the Thien Nhan mountain range, stretching endlessly like a herd of horses. On this mountain lies Luc Nien Thanh, the headquarters of Le Loi in 1424.
To the west lies Mount Dun (Hung Son in Chinese characters) – “A famous mountain where sacred energy gathers, clouds and mist gather”, at the foot of the mountain is Van An fortress, a stronghold and base for resisting the Tang Dynasty invaders in 722 under Mai Thuc Loan; Dan Nhiem village, the birthplace of Phan Boi Chau – a patriotic scholar…
Chung Mountain has long been steeped in history, home to many famous relics such as the Thánh Cả Temple dedicated to General Xuân Lâm, one of the ten most skilled generals of the Trần Dynasty, and Bảo Quang Tự Pagoda (commonly known as Đạt Pagoda)... It is also the site of many important historical events: the uprising against the invading army led by Scholar Vương Thúc Mậu (1885-1886). In the early 20th century, patriots such as Phan Bội Châu, Nguyễn Sinh Sắc, Vương Thúc Quý, Trần Văn Lương... often came here to write poetry and discuss current affairs.
Since the Party's founding, Chung Mountain has been a secret meeting place for the Lam Thinh commune Party branch. The hammer and sickle flag once flew atop the mountain, defying the enemy's repression aimed at drowning the steadfast Soviet fighters in a sea of blood.
So many historical relics are recorded on a small mountain; it is truly sacred and magnificent. Could it be that the sacred fire from this mountain ignited the hearts and forged the wills of the loyal sons of Kim Lien, Nam Dan; especially the young boy Nguyen Sinh Cung - Nguyen Tat Thanh, who later became the great President Ho Chi Minh?
According to documents from the Kim Lien Historical Site, some elderly villagers who spent their childhood with President Ho Chi Minh in Lang Sen - Lang Chua still recount that, as a child, Nguyen Sinh Cung often went to Chung Mountain with his friends to admire the scenery and devised many creative and fun games such as tug-of-war, hide-and-seek, and mock battles. At Dam Sim Hill, the sounds of boisterous laughter still linger from the fierce tug-of-war games of the Lang Sen children, with Nguyen Sinh Cung's team usually winning. Even more mischievously, he would wink at his "subordinates," making them pretend to lose, causing the other boys to fall sprawling onto the grass, some even rolling into a pit, ending with bursts of joyful laughter. The clumps of trees halfway up the mountain were the setting for the mock battles orchestrated by Cung, reviving in the children the glorious history of the nation. After the tiring raids and chases, the children would relax on the backs of buffaloes, flying kites to the sound of flutes, breathing in the fresh air of the countryside.
Most enjoyable were the mountain climbing excursions, where, with his profound knowledge, Nguyen Sinh Cung introduced his friends to historical stories and heroic figures whose names are associated with the nation, instilling in them national pride, love for their homeland, and nurturing the will to drive out the enemy and liberate their country.

And proudly, the "little leader" of the children of Lang Sen and Lang Chua villages, after years of searching for a way to save the country, has become the great leader of the Vietnamese nation; a man who has brought glory to the Vietnamese land and country, and is the pride of the people of Nghe An./.
