Opening ceremony of the training course on folk performing arts of the Khơ Mú ethnic group.
On the afternoon of June 10th, in Ky Son district, the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An province organized the opening ceremony of a training course on folk performing arts for the Khơ Mú ethnic group.
The training course was attended by over 80 participants, including artisans, cultural figures, and influential community members from Ky Son, Tuong Duong, and Que Phong districts.

Over the course of four days (June 10-13), participants will receive training on important topics such as: guidelines, policies, and strategies related to the preservation of ethnic minority cultures in general and the Khơ Mú ethnic culture in particular; the distinctive features of Khơ Mú culture in Nghe An and the importance of preserving cultural identity in conjunction with community tourism development.
The trainees are also taught basic dance movements of the Khơ Mú people (dao dao dance, waist-shaking dance, fish-flicking dance, bird-chasing dance, harvest dance, etc.); how to use musical instruments, and how to sing some folk melodies such as Tơm, Re ré…
The lectures are delivered by experts with many years of experience researching and understanding the folk performing arts of ethnic minorities, as well as outstanding artisans who possess a rich treasure of folk songs and unique methods of crafting and performing musical instruments of their communities.
The training course aims to educate about the value of intangible cultural heritage, enhance understanding of ethnic culture in general and the folk music of the Khơ Mú people in particular. This will contribute to guiding and raising awareness of self-preservation, conservation, and promotion of the folk performing arts of the Khơ Mú ethnic group, creating an environment for exchange and sharing of knowledge and practical skills related to heritage, thereby preventing the current strong trend of assimilation and decline.
