Opening of the training class on Khmu ethnic folk performing arts
On the afternoon of June 10, in Ky Son district, the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An province organized the opening of a training course on folk performing arts for the Khmu ethnic group.
The training course was attended by more than 80 trainees who are artisans, cultural figures, and prestigious people in the community in Ky Son, Tuong Duong and Que Phong districts.

During the 4 days (June 10-13), students will learn many important contents such as: guidelines, policies and strategies related to the preservation of ethnic minority culture in general and Khmu ethnic culture in particular; Khmu cultural characteristics in Nghe An and the importance of preserving cultural identity associated with community tourism development.
Students are also taught basic dance movements of the Khmu people (knife dance, waist shaking dance, fish dancing, bird chasing dance, harvest dance...); use musical instruments, practice singing some folk songs such as Tom, Re re...

The content of the lectures is by experts with many years of experience in researching and understanding ethnic minority folk performing arts and elite artisans who possess a rich treasure of folk songs and unique ways of making and performing musical instruments.
Through the training course, the aim is to educate the value of intangible cultural heritage, enhance the understanding of ethnic culture in general and folk music of the Khmu people in particular. From there, contribute to orienting, raising awareness of self-preservation, conservation and promotion of the values of folk performing arts of the Khmu people, creating an environment for exchange, sharing knowledge and skills in practicing heritage, thereby avoiding the current strong erosion and assimilation.
