Business director arrested for defrauding nearly $500,000.
The provincial police determined that Lighting Company was not qualified to trade in medical equipment, but Doat provided false information in order to embezzle a deposit of $485,000 from RHT Company.
On June 23, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Bac Lieu Provincial Police announced that the unit had just...prosecuteThe suspect, Mr. Vo Thanh Doat (52 years old, residing in Ward 15, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City), has been taken into temporary custody for investigation into the crime of fraud and appropriation of property.
According to the investigation, in May 2020, Vo Thanh Doat, Sales Director of Lighting Company, signed a contract with the Director of RHT Company to buy and sell powder-free medical gloves.
However, when the delivery deadline arrived, Lighting Company failed to deliver the powder-free medical gloves as per the signed contract and also did not refund the money to RHT Company as promised.
RHT Company has repeatedly contacted Lighting Company and requested the return of the deposit, but has received no response, indicating potential fraud involving the misappropriation of USD 485,000.
Through the investigation process, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Bac Lieu Provincial Police determined that Lighting Company did not meet the requirements to trade in medical equipment (including powder-free medical gloves), but Doat provided false and misleading information in order to embezzle the 485,000 USD deposit from RHT Company.
Previously, on June 3rd, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Bac Lieu Provincial Police issued a decision to initiate a criminal case for fraud and appropriation of property that occurred at Lighting Company.
The case is currently under expanded investigation by the Bac Lieu Provincial Police Investigation Agency.
