A female director has been prosecuted on smuggling charges.
(Baonghean.vn) - The Nghe An Provincial Police Investigation Agency announced that it has initiated criminal proceedings and issued an arrest warrant against Nguyen Thi Hoan (born in 1968), residing in Hamlet 6, Dien Ky Commune, Dien Chau District, for the crime of smuggling.
Accordingly, in 2021, Anh Phap Viet Company, headed by Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoan, signed a contract to export a shipment of rosewood to China. During the customs clearance process, the company declared export documents that did not match the quantity of the exported shipment.
The shipment was returned because the Dongxing border crossing in Guangxi Province, China, did not meet the requirements for supervising timber imports.
On March 18, 2022, while Anh Phap Viet Company was in the process of registering the re-import of a shipment at the Mong Cai border gate in Quang Ninh province, Vietnam, the shipment was discovered and seized. Upon inspection, the quantity of goods on the transport vehicle did not match the quantity the company had registered for both export and re-import procedures.
During the investigation, the investigating agency conducted investigations and collected documents and evidence to prove the violations committed by Anh Phap Viet Company and related individuals.
Based on the documents and evidence collected, under the direction of the Provincial Police leadership, on November 7, 2023, the Investigation Police Department of Nghe An Province initiated criminal proceedings and issued an arrest warrant against Nguyen Thi Hoan - Director of Anh Phap Viet Company - for the crime of smuggling, in order to investigate according to the law.
