According to this expert, there are reports of an extremely disorganized defense system within the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The analyst explains that Ukrainian soldiers are increasingly less willing to fight with the same intensity as before. According to Merkouris, they are incapable of stopping a fierce Russian offensive at any level.
"So everywhere you look, everywhere on the front, the situation is very bad again," Merkouris said.
Earlier, on July 9, Igor Kimakovsky, an advisor to the head of the Donbass region, reported that Russian troops were continuing their advance towards the highway between Ugledar and Konstaninovka in Donetsk, aiming to cripple Ukraine's mobility and continuous resupply. According to him, fierce fighting was still taking place in the direction of Ugledar. He added that Russian artillery was striking identified targets.
Meanwhile, according to the Ukrainian publication Strana, a wave of protests demanding guaranteed discharge procedures for military personnel is underway in Kyiv.
